about one crow left

artist | teacher | shamanic explorer

I'm kirsty, the artist behind one crow left – a name that symbolises the solitary journey of artistic discovery. like a ritual mask, this creative identity allows me to fully explore and express my artistic essence while honouring my spiritual guides.

  • my work bridges the tangible world with the realms of shamanic wisdom, weaving together elements of nature, geometric forms, and the divine feminine. I work intuitively across multiple media – digital art, linocut, painting, pen, and bone – allowing each piece to emerge through a process of spiritual connection and artistic exploration.

In 2023, I completed a year-long shamanic initiation with ruth cato in south shropshire. my year-long shamanic initiation course guided me through the ancient practice of journeying between worlds, where I learned to commune with spirit guides, harness healing energies, and develop sacred rituals aligned with nature's rhythms. through seasonal gatherings, intensive personal practice, and mentorship from experienced practitioners, I discovered my authentic spiritual gifts while developing the skills to navigate non-ordinary reality. my journey culminated in a profound ceremonial initiation, marking my transformation and commitment to walking this path of service, healing, and wisdom in my community and beyond. for me, the initiation cemented my place on the fringes of things, and unleashed a creative tidal wave.

In 2024, I took the significant step of exhibiting and selling my work at studio events and art fairs. despite occasional moments of imposter syndrome (which artist doesn't experience this?), I've been deeply moved by the support from fellow artists and spiritual practitioners who have encouraged my path.

  • my creative process is intimately connected to my shamanic practice. I draw inspiration from drum journeys, omen walks in nature, and the ancient folk meanings of local flora and fauna. my work often features liminal spaces, folk culture, and sacred geometric forms that serve as anchors between worlds.

several spirit guides appear throughout my artwork:

    • the fox – my heart guide

    • the crow – my creative and intellectual guide

    • the swan– my body protector

    • the octopus – my shadow guide

    • the spider – my chord work guide

    • the cat – my psychopomp guide

perhaps most significant is “ninshubur’s guide”", the spirit of my drum who first introduced himself simply as "richard." appearing as a majestic stag whose voice shakes the world, he leads me on transformative journeys that allow my creative work to flow.

  • I'm currently expanding my product range, creating public art installations, and launching an intuitive art circle to share my practice with others who feel called to explore the connection between creativity and spirituality.
